"I Married Adventure"

Back in January, I made a promise to myself that I would go on more adventures. I didn't define how big/small/far away/exciting the adventure had to be ... but kept the definition open-ended. And I have to say, taking that time and keeping that open-ended promise to myself has been amazing.

One of the best things about adventures (big & small), is that they get you out of your comfort zone. And some seriously amazing things can happen out there. When you're out of your comfort zone, whether in a new city or just traveling a new route home, it makes you think in a way you may never have before. It challenges your brain to adapt, maybe work a little harder, and see things differently.

It's so easy to get wrapped up in the everyday chaos, demands, and ups-and-downs of life to the point where it gets to be an overwhelming, energy zapping cycle. When I'm stuck, in a rut or just plain uninspired, I've found that simply by changing my surroundings for a few hours or a few days can completely refresh my mind and change my perspective. I take myself on a mini adventure, and I come back inspired.

Change your surroundings to change your outlook. Even if just for a few minutes. It's really pretty simple, no?

Have you gone on any (big or small) adventures this year? I'd love to hear!

  1. I'm about to embark on a huge adventure: moving from Houston to Atlanta and starting my very first real job! I'm both terrified and excited...so many lessons to learn, new things to experience and so many ways to get out of my comfort zone!

    1. Wow, that's so exciting! I've heard great things about Atlanta, and making a big move to a new city is definitely an exciting new adventure. Congratulations!

  2. Love the site update! You did a beautiful job. I'm working on a few (including my own face lift)...and the coding has been it's own adventure. And law school, I suppose ;)

    1. Thank you! Teaching yourself how to code is definitely an adventure in itself, but so worth it. I might consider law school a pretty big adventure too ;) Good luck!!
