Portfolio: A Gatsby-Inspired Invitation

When I get to work on a project with clients whose vision is the same as mine, it's kind of an amazing thing. And when they tell me they love gold foil stamping, I know we're going to get along.

The client was really inspired by an Art Deco font I used on her vintage postcard Save the Dates, and asked to keep the same Gatsby-esque look without going too overboard. She wanted a modern invitation with a vintage feel, something that was a little bit different, and that fit with her Philadelphia wedding.

(pardon the less than stellar photos, I am by no means a professional photographer)

She was open to color suggestions, and ultimately we settled on a charcoal gray ink, mixed with gold foil on an ecru paper. The "love" motif I created was inspired by the love statue in love park here in Philly, with an Art Deco twist.
The entire suite – I love that everything coordinated without being exactly the same.

This was definitely one of my favorite designs I've done to date. While a Gatsby-themed suite isn't for everyone, I love a couple who isn't afraid to have a little fun with their wedding.

What do you think? xx
